Setup Profile Manager

How To Setup Profile Manager

Please follow this guide step-by-step to get up and running with Profile Manager. Please note that Windows XP is not supported.

1

Download

Download the latest version of Profile Manager here: Download Profile Manager 1.1

You need to have .NET 4.5 installed. If you are not sure, download and run the .NET installer here: Download Microsoft .NET 4.5

If you already have .NET 4.5 on your machine, the installer will tell you.

2

Install

First, close any open MT4 terminals. Now you can run the Profile Manager setup you downloaded in step 1. Simply click through the setup until Profile Manager is installed.

3

Activate

The first time you start Profile Manager it will ask for your license key. Simply copy and paste the license key you have received via email. Once you have successfully activated you will not be asked to activate again. If you don’t have a license key you can purchase a license here.

Please note that Profile Manager is licensed per machine. You can move your license to a new machine at any time, simply install and activate on the new machine. When you activate on a new machine, any previous activations will automatically be deactivated. If you need to run Profile Manager on multiple machines, you need a license per machine.

Account Setup

The first thing you need to do is connect Profile Manager to your MT4 terminal. If you have multiple MT4 terminals you need to pick your primary one.

a) Go to the Terminals tab, and click the Add Terminal button at the bottom left, then select the main folder of your MT4 installation.

b) Click the Master Config button at the bottom right, and enter the account number of the MT4 terminal you just added.

c) If your broker is using a suffix on symbols, go to the Settings tab and enter it under Suffix at the bottom right. Not sure if your broker is using a suffix? Forex symbols are only 6 characters, anything that is a suffix.

d) Open the MT4 terminal you just added.

The next step depends on your broker having a suffix on symbols or not.

Setting up MT4 without a suffix

a) Go to Tools > Options and click the Expert Advisors tab. Make sure the checkboxes are set exactly as this screenshot.

b) Go to Files > Profiles and select the FX Profile Manager profile. Now you will see 7 charts. One for each or the 6 pairs that Kevin trades, and a 7th chart which is dedicated to connecting Profile Manager and the MT4 terminal. Do not close this chart. It must be open at all times, otherwise Profile Manager will lose the connection to the MT4 terminal.

c) You should now see live quotes and setups in Profile Manager on the Setups tab, as well as a number of target lines on the charts in MT4.

Setting up MT4 with a suffix

Suffixes on symbols require a few extra steps.

a) Go to Tools > Options and click the Expert Advisors tab. Make sure the checkboxes are set exactly as this screenshot.

b) Go to Tools > Options and adjust the settings so they match these settings exactly.

c) Open a chart for each of the 6 pairs listed on the Setups tab in Profile Manager.

d) Load the FX Profile Manager indicator once on each of the 6 charts. Locate the indicator under Custom Indicators, and drag it onto each of the 6 charts and click OK when prompted. Please make sure you only load the indicator once per chart, as loading it multiple times on a chart will cause issues.

e) Open an extra chart (any Forex symbol) and load the FX Profile Manager template. Right-click the chart and select Templates, then select FX Profile Manager.

f) Save everything as a profile so you can easily restore everything later. Go to Files > Profiles > Save As and name the new profile FX Profile Manager. The profile contains all the charts and settings, so in the future you only need to load the FX Profile Manager profile to restore everything.

g) You should now see live quotes and setups in Profile Manager on the Setups tab, as well as a number of target lines on the charts in MT4.

Please note that Profile Manager connects to your MT4 terminal via the template you loaded. That chart is dedicated to connecting Profile Manager and the MT4 terminal. Do not close that chart. It must be open at all times, otherwise Profile Manager will lose the connection to the MT4 terminal.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you are only running the template on a single chart. Running the template on multiple charts may result in duplicate trades.

Final Step

At this point everything is setup to connect Profile Manager and MT4. The last thing you will want to do is setup the auto-trader so the setups in the profile is traded automatically. You can read more about the auto-trader and all the other features in the Profile Manager Manual.

Common Issues & Important Information

a) Trade setups are only visible if Profile Manager is connected to MT4 and the FX Profile Manager indicator is running on each of the 6 charts.

b) If you are starting MT4 or loading the indicators or template while the market is closed, you won’t see any quotes or setups in Profile Manager, and the connection status will show as disconnected. This is normal, and will change as soon as the market opens.

c) If Profile Manager is not connecting to MT4, make sure you have a blank chart that reads “FX Profile Manager .. Do not close this chart“. If you don’t have this chart simply load the template on a new chart. Also, make sure the account number specified in Profile Manager matches the account number in MT4, and make sure any symbol suffix is specified as well.

d) If your broker is using a suffix on symbols you need to specify the suffix under Settings, otherwise the connection between Profile Manager and MT4 will not work.

e) If everything is connected, but you still aren’t seeing the setups on the charts in MT4, please make sure that you are only running the FX Profile Manager indicator once on each of the 6 charts, and make sure you only have one chart that reads “FX Profile Manager .. Do not close this chart“.

f) If you change the account number in MT4, you need to update the account number in Profile Manager so it matches.

g) If you change the MT4 terminal, you need to remove the old MT4 terminal in Profile Manager and add the new one. Also, make sure you unload the indicators and template on all charts in the old terminal.

h) When adding a new or additional MT4 terminals, be sure to close the new MT4 terminals before adding them.

i) You should never use the FX Profile Manager Expert Advisor. It’s loaded internally by the template, and should never be manually loaded on a chart.

j) You should never manually install any of the Profile Manager files in an MT4 terminal. The software does this for you, and ensures that everything is setup correctly.
